-   Renovation of a school in Mali with the Coup de Pouce Humanitaire association  -

ALAD, a small Malian association that fights to stem the rural exodus, has turned to another association, Coup de Pouce Humanitaire, for the renovation of a school located in Farabana, a village 40 km from Bamako. The project has caught the imagination of the local population, unused to seeing Western visitors staying so long in Farabana, and the 14 volunteers have forged strong links with villagers.

-   200 desks for schools in three Togolese villages -

To improve schooling conditions for the children of three Togolese villages, a local association, Partage et Action en Synergie pour le Développement, has equipped three Togolese schools with 200 desks. The schools in the regions aided by the initiative lack vital infrastructure, and existing conditions are hardly suited to accommodating so many children in surroundings conducive to a proper education. This project offers children improved access to education, while a tree-planting side project also awakens villagers to the importance of preserving the environment.

-  The Énergies Solidaires association installs a solar energy plant in Burkina Faso -


The solar energy plant installed by the Énergies Solidaires association provides a college with a continuous supply of electricity. Two classrooms and the staff quarters of Tita College in Burkina Faso now have electricity and lighting thanks to solar energy. The lighting allows the 793 students and nine teachers to work in the evening, while, thanks to electricity, they can now use computers. Énergies Solidaires also trained two technicians for maintenance of the installation.

-   Les Bambinos – an association bringing schoolbooks to the children of Senegal -

Les Bambinos is an association whose primary mission is to support the Fass primary school in Senegal by providing schoolbooks and supplies. In 2007, 441 students at the school all received the school manuals they will require in coming years as part of the project.

-   The Coopération Linux association offers Moroccan students an introduction to information technology -

The association’s Tux du Désert project aims to bring Internet connectivity to a primary school and a forestry-engineering college in Salé, Morocco. The project includes training in the use and repair of computers. An educational partnership has been formed between the primary schools of Nousty (64) in France and Salé, Morocco.

- A school for Mali – a project with the Oullins Mali Aqua Viva association -

Built in phases, a primary school in a small Malian village now accommodates 196 children. The school also holds adult literacy classes. The School for Mali project, run by the Oullins Mali Aqua Viva association, was set up to ensure the continued improvement of living conditions in this Malian village. Total helped fund the classrooms’ ceilings and roofing to provide better thermal and acoustic insulation.
